Support Arlington Street with additional benefits:

  • The market value of a gift of stock and securities is tax-deductible, just like any other charitable contribution.
  • Giving stock or securities has an additional tax advantage—donors avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation of the asset.
  • Always consult with your tax advisor for specific tax information, as certain limitations may apply.

In advance of making your stock/securities donation, please notify our Treasurer, Liz Teixeira at Treasurer@ASCBoston.org or (617) 686-1232. Please provide the name of the stock, number of shares, and the expected donation date. Electronic transfers of stock/securities arrive in our account without donor information, and we want to be sure to credit and acknowledge your generosity.

Consider an IRA Charitable Rollover

A Special Opportunity for Those 70½ Years Old and Older

You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $108,000 this year) from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as Arlington Street Church without having to pay income taxes on the money. To initiate the gift of an IRA Charitable Rollover, contact your IRA administrator.

Why Consider This Gift?
  • Your gift will be put to use today, allowing you to see the difference your donation is making in our beloved spiritual community.

  • If you are required to take minimum distributions, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your obligation.

  • You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.

  • Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax.

For Those 59½ Years Old or Older

If you are at least 59½ years old, you can take a distribution and then make a gift from your IRA without penalty. If you itemize your deductions, you can take a charitable deduction for the amount of your gift.

At Any Age

No matter your age, you can designate Arlington Street Church as a beneficiary of your IRA, life insurance, or other retirement plan, and it will pass to us tax-free after your lifetime. It’s simple to do – just contact your plan administrator for a change-of-beneficiary form or download it from the plan’s website.

Tip: It is important to let us know of your gift because many plan administrators assume no obligation to notify a charity of your designation or monitor if your gift designations are followed. We would love to talk to you about your gift and thank you for your generosity.

If you have any questions about IRA charitable rollovers, stock transfers, planned giving, or other giving, please contact our Treasurer, Liz Teixeira at Treasurer@ASCBoston.org or (617) 686-1232.
